The world has become more connected than ever in the last decade. This can be attributed to the rise in technology since the digital age has started. Many people say this began with the .COM boom. This may be true, but what is next on the horizon?

As we think of processes that could be changed for the better with the help of technology, it is easy to point out so many aspects of our everyday life that could be improved with a technological touch. However, some people believe that opposite. Some believe that more technology makes us lazier since we can have machines automate tasks.

In the digital realm, both are true. More technology does make us lazier in certain aspects of our everyday tasks. On the same token though, this allows us to focus on tasks that are much greater and potentially need more concentration to complete. The use of technology to accomplish remedial tasks is, in many cases, the best alternative.

As our world grows faster and faster each day, so does the demand to achieve more. To achieve more, there are ultimately three ways to do this. Option 1: Do it yourself. Option 2: Pay someone to do it for you. Option 3: Use technology to complete this task. All options are time consuming, however, Option 3 requires no energy, time or effort to complete (except for the time / money used to build the technology). This option saves us time, money, workforce, labor costs and much more.

Consider trends in the marketplace as a perfect example. Many companies are now either outsourcing to other countries or building more technology to replace workers that complete tasks that a machine could complete. Not to say this is good or bad, it is simply what the demand is due to the market changes.

Consumers want instant gratification. In order to achieve this, businesses must become 100% more efficient with their time to ensure that each customer (depending on the businesses’ industry) is taken care of in a timely manner and correctly. Fast food is a great example of this.

In conclusion, as we look back on technological advances, it is easy to realize that technology has embedded itself into our society in many different ways. It is not going leaving anytime soon. Find the technology that best works for you and your tasks to become the most efficient you can be.
